Land Rights Case Heads to Court

Local Mineral Miner Owen Shield will argue to be granted permanent access to his land, after neighboring land owner Abner Ogg returns and denies access through his property.

For over a decade, mineral miner and aspiring resort mogul Owen Shield has accessed his own land via the road going through Abner Ogg’s property. Ogg has returned to Michigan after a 15 year stint in Texas to learn that Shield has begun constructing a commercial resort on the Shield land, and plans to use the road through Ogg’s land as an access to the new resort. Ogg has since blocked Shield from using the road and is accusing Shield of committing trespass, while Shield is now asking the courts for permanent easement rights through Ogg’s land.
